September has a reputation on Wall Street — and not a particularly good one.
Historically, it has been the weakest month of the year for US equities, a period when markets have repeatedly stumbled just as investors return from the northern summer.
This year, however, the seasonal tendency arrives alongside something potentially more significant: a cluster of longer-term cycles that market forecaster Andrew Pancholi believes could make September an important month across stocks, currencies, gold and other major markets.
I caught up with Andrew briefly this week ahead of the release of his September Market Timing Report.
It was an impromptu conversation — Andrew was literally on his way out the door to Cambridge — and it was 10pm Melbourne time, but the timing seemed too important to leave until next week.
