The Cycle Always Finds New Fuel
At every stage of the cycle punters question how land values can possibly keep rising when wages are stagnated or falling backwards?
Other’s suggest the only reason we have a cycle at all is because of the fiat banking system and if this were controlled, the cycle would be eliminated.
The reality is, that the land cycle has played out under a gold standard, under fiat, with high interest rates, low interest rates, fixed exchange regimes and floating ones.
It persists only because speculation on land is hard-wired into the system.
As long as there’s the lure of unearned gains from rising land values, people will find a way to finance the boom – whether through private debt, land syndicates, building societies, crypto profits, or government subsidies.
The pattern hasn’t changed – neither has the timing - only the tools have.
You can’t predict what’s coming without grasping this first. And with this in mind, history has the best lessons for us to draw upon.
